Annual Health and Safety Awards
It’s that time of year again, time to think about your health and safety champions. Please think about nominating a member who helps to build Health and Safety awareness in their work space. These representatives of the labour movement often work unseen, quietly attending meetings, keeping an eye on the workspace for everyone. Health and Safety reps are vital to every union and their contribution is worthy of honour and celebration.  To nominate and or register for the Awards night, please complete the form linked here.
The 2018 Health and Safety Awards Dinner is December 4th, 6:30 at the Best Western. To view the Facebook event page click here.
Our guest speaker this year is Dr. Kristen Ferguson. Dr. Ferguson teaches and researches at Nipissing University. She is part of a landmark multi-sector study of mental health issues in the workplace. To read a read article about her research and the project click here.

Website Training

Local lodges  from District 78 gathered at the district office in Toronto on Friday April 27, 2018 to learn how to develop and maintain local lodge websites.

Frank Saptel communication director was our instructor with Eric Johnston (LL 1975 St. Thomas), Rick Moriarity (LL 103 Kingston) , Bobby Manevski (LL 2113 Markam) and myself,  were all in attendance for the workshop. We learned the basics of how to use WordPress as a communication tool to keep our respective locals informed and engaged. In the days ahead I will be working on building our web site into an information hub for our local. As this is all new to me and having limited computer skills, I ask for your patience during the building process. I welcome to any suggestions or feed back with regards to content on the site.

In Solidarity
